ABOUT
Psychological counsellor, health coach and sexual counsellor — committed to offering genuine help, not superficial solutions.
Personal
My name is Panagiotis Giannikakis. I work as a psychological counsellor, health coach and sexual counsellor. My interdisciplinary approach combines psychological expertise with a salutogenic understanding of health — focusing on what keeps people well, rather than just what makes them ill.
I am a member of the American Psychological Association (APA) and have extensive experience working with people facing serious mental health challenges and complex life situations. I hold LVR-recognised experience and international EAP (Employee Assistance Programme) expertise, supporting individuals and organisations across borders.
Book Initial Consultation →I believe genuine counselling is built on honesty. No quick fixes, no empty promises — but an interdisciplinary perspective on your whole situation. People are not a collection of isolated problems. Mental health, physical wellbeing, relationships and personal identity constantly influence one another — and that is precisely where I focus.
What sets my work apart from many others: I bring both perspectives.
Salutogenesis
Pathogenesis
This combination is rare. It allows me to support clients both preventively and during acute life crises — always keeping the bigger picture in view.
Recognised Pedagogical Specialist (Mental Illness & Addiction): My clinical experience was gained in outpatient community-based support services (BeWo) in Rhein-Kreis Neuss and Düsseldorf — working with people experiencing severe mental health conditions, addiction disorders, and complex life situations. The LVR (Landschaftsverband Rheinland) recognises me as a pedagogical specialist for the field of mental illness and addiction; the qualification builds on in-depth knowledge of psychiatric conditions. My work centred on psychological counselling: I held regular counselling sessions, supported clients in better understanding and managing their condition, strengthened their self-efficacy, and provided stabilising support in crisis situations — coordinating closely with physicians, therapists, and other specialists.
Today, I hold professional responsibility for needs assessment (support-planning procedure) within this organisation: as the responsible specialist for the entire company, I describe each client's individual support needs and determine — based on their clinical presentation and its classification — what level of support is required. This calls for sound knowledge of clinical diagnoses and well-founded judgement on which support is needed in each individual case. I am also involved in quality management and concept development.
As an EAP counsellor (Employee Assistance Programme) at MindFi — a Singapore-based company — I supported executives, senior managers, and C-suite leaders at multinational organisations, in German and English, remotely and worldwide. EAP is an employer-funded counselling format that provides employees with confidential, professional psychological support for both professional and personal challenges — accessible, discreet, and independent of the employer.
The client profile at MindFi set a particular standard: high-achieving professionals operating under intense pressure, with equally high expectations around discretion and quality. This experience has fundamentally sharpened my understanding of the specific stress patterns and psychological dynamics that arise in demanding leadership roles.
Qualified as a sexual counsellor through academic further education (London Metropolitan University): My qualification as a sexual counsellor is grounded in an academic further education programme at London Metropolitan University. It gave me in-depth competence in communication around sexual concerns, in the sensitive handling of the effects of sexual abuse and trauma, in couples counselling, and in the interplay between psychopharmacology and sexuality — complemented by alternative medical perspectives on sexual health. This solid foundation continues to shape my counselling practice today, which remains sexual counselling, not psychotherapeutic treatment.

Remote counselling offers flexibility, discretion and efficiency — available nationwide and internationally via secure video call. In individual cases I also offer home visits in the Meerbusch, Neuss and Düsseldorf area for clients who prefer in-person contact, at least at the outset. I am planning to open a practice in this region in the future.
